Full Design & Build Services
Starting with a meeting and in-depth discussion about how you'd like to use your garden, I would design your garden space to fit your needs, interests and lifestyle. I would be able to oversee the redesign and build of the agreed design, in consultation with you, and would source contractors for the various aspects of the hard landscaping work as well as procuring materials and plants.
Plant ideas, layout and care
I can help you to come up with a planting design and layout, or a list of plants that will work well in your garden and together in a border. It can be difficult to decide on a planting scheme, especially in difficult soils or terrain or if you are not sure of the aspect - sunny, shady, wet or dry - and what to plant where. I'll help you choose the plants and source them and then it is over to you. But if you need help or advice with the planting and looking after them I can also give you some tips.
design implementation
If you would prefer to take your time transforming your garden, and appoint your contractors yourself, I will be happy to provide advice and ideas, with sketches, photos and drawings (as appropriate) to enable you to move forward at your own pace.
I work closely with a number of experienced, local, reputable landscape contractors to implement the final design. The contractor will procure materials and agree a quoted price with the client, working closely with me and my client to ensure the project is delivered as agreed.
PRUNING SERVICE FOR ACERS, MAGNOLIAS, CAMELLIAS AND SIMILAR ornamental TREES AND SHRUBS
Japanese gardens are amazing as is the way in which Japanese Maples and similar ornamental trees can be pruned to bring out the natural form and beauty. Prune them for shape, so that light can pass through and the branches are highlighted to best effect. Large trees no longer look like giant shrubs after a considered prune! The art and skill of pruning is learnt over time and each tree is different. Trees can be given a new lease of life too. My Pruning service is offered at daily rates.
Project management and key milestones
If you don't need me to oversee the full implementation of the garden design, but would like some help at key milestones, such as appointing or briefing a contractor, ordering materials, putting together a plant list with quantities and placing the order, or laying out of plants, I am happy to discuss and agree how we can work together.
